Mission Statement

The mission of the Aetna Retirees Association is to assist retirees in protecting company-provided retirement benefits including medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, life insurance and pensions to which Aetna committed itself to as a part of their overall compensation package.

Strategy

We will try first to accomplish this mission through cooperation with the company by regularly communicating our views regarding proposed benefit changes while seeking a clear understanding of the company's intent. We will remind company officials, directors and shareholders of their obligations to the former employees who have served them well and to enlist their aid in assuring that the company keeps its commitments.

At the same time, we will work as needed with legislators on the state and federal level to strengthen protection for all retired workers. We will turn to the arena of public opinion to gain support for what is rightfully ours and will not preclude legal action as a last resort.
